| CIVA 2020 is now available |
| The latest version of CIVA has just been released! It includes significant enhancements both in terms of functionnalities and performances, among which: an integrated tool for DAC curves and TCG computations, especially for phased-array sensors, a further integration of FEM tools within CIVA UT, a dedicated environment for nozzle UT inspection, a linear scan module in RT and CT, new defect profiles in ET, some mode analysis tools in the GWT module, and an enhancement of the metamodels capabilities and its extension to the RT and GWT modules. More details are given in the release note. All CIVA users with a valid maintenance contract will have access to this new release. Next week, we will start sending you the link to download this new version, as well as your updated license. |

| TraiNDE UT tutorial | ||

EXTENDE started commercializing TraiNDE UT, the first simulator for the training of UT operators. This tool offers all the steps the operator has to follow in order to perform a correct detection and sizing of indications: calibration, sensitivity and inspection. The tutorial illustrates this workflow for a steel plate exercise. | |
| Invited paper about the MUSCAD French national research project | ||

Sylvain CHATILLON, head of the Acoustic Modelling and Simulation Laboratory at CEA LIST (France), presented at the 2019 International Congress on Ultrasonics (ICU), in Bruges (Belgium), the scope and some of the validation results obtained in the framework of the MUSCAD national research project (ANR). This project is dedicated to ultrasound methods for the characterization of nuclear component materials for diagnostic improvement. It is undertaken in collaboration with CEA LIST, INSA, EDF R&D, LMA, and EXTENDE. | First CIVA users meeting | ||
|
On the 2nd September 2019, the first CIVA U.K. users group meeting took place at the Telford International Centre, the day before the BINDT-MT conference and exhibition. We had the chance to welcome about 25 CIVA users to share NDT simulation experiences in different domains, and we presented future improvements on CIVA and promising upcoming new features. The wide scope of presentations, from civil nuclear to defence applications involving RT to UT simulations, was highly appreciated by everybody. It was also a nice opportunity to have open discussions between the development team leader of CIVA at the CEA, Stéphane LE BERRE, and British CIVA users. |
