TraiNDE RT v1.1 is now available |
This new version of our RT Training Simulator comes with new features (ASTM IQI, blocks of equivalent thickness, trainees' error reports) as well as an improved user experience (easy start-up, dedicated sessions, integrated screencast). More details are provided in the release note and on the TraiNDE RT website. Also, check out at our TraiNDE RT live demo video! |
Starr D'Auria joins EXTENDE Inc. |
EXTENDE Inc. opened in 2011 with just one employee, Vice President Erica Schumacher. During the past decade, EXTENDE Inc. has relocated to Virginia, and our product offerings have greatly expanded, but our staff has not. Now, that is changing too!
We are pleased to announce that Starr D'Auria has just joined EXTENDE Inc. as an NDE Engineer. She has Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from LeTourneau University, Level II training in VT and UT, additional training in ET, RT, PT and MT plus vendor oversight experience with both NDT and welding. We are very pleased to have her join our team, bringing her enthusiasm, knowledge and interest in continuous learning to EXTENDE Inc.. |
CIVA 2021 - PA UT - TFM Sensitivity Mapping |
Selecting the relevant mode for TFM reconstruction considering indirect paths can be tricky. The sensitivity mapping features available in CIVA 2021, including the SEE (Specular Echo Estimator) feature, help you easily select them in order to reach efficient defects detectability, characterization and sizing.
A video is available on our YouTube channel to illustrate this new feature. This video shows the TFM SEE feature being applied to a vertical notch breaking the backwall of a complex specimen, and how to define such a configuration. The results provided by this new tool are discussed and linked to TFM imaging.
This new feature has been developed during the ADVISE project, funded by the Euratom Research and Training Program 2014-2018 under agreement N°755500. |
CIVA FAQ |
In our drive to bring you the best support possible, we would like to remind CIVA users under maintenance that answers to the most common questions may be found in the FAQ section of our support platform. From the "Search solution" menu, the contents of the FAQ can be sorted by modules and keywords. You can, for example, find why delay laws are restricted in some cases, how to perform a parametric variation, or what the recommended computer configuration is. |
Interview of Bengisu Yilmaz |
Today, we are delighted to interview Mrs. Bengisu Yilmaz, NDT researcher at BAM, about her recent works dealing with POD and Model Assisted POD.
You have recently and successfully completed your PHD at Kaunas Technical University including the work "MAPOD (Model Assisted POD) based reliability assessment of ultrasonic features for bonding quality evaluation". Could you tell us more about the industrial context of these works? Compared to mechanical fasteners, adhesive bonding provides superior joining technology with advantages like homogenous load distribution. Especially when joining composite materials, it is preferred to use adhesive bonding because it doesn't require drilling on the substrate, hence the fiber integrity is maintained. [...] Read more |
CIVA Tip: Parametric studies in CIVA |
CIVA software enables to model and simulate a configuration of non-destructive evaluation with very satisfying performances in terms of computation time. These performances make the intensive use of CIVA affordable in the frame of parametric studies, for example with the aim to optimize and/or justify the performances of an inspection method. These tools strengthen the role of the simulation in which a model parameter can easily be modified, whereas it can become very costly and time-consuming in the frame of experimental studies.
