CIVA 2023 SP3 is being released

CIVA

The Service Pack 3 of the current commercial release CIVA 2023 is being released and has been delivered to our users with a valid maintenance contract through a dedicated emailing last week. If you did not receive the information do not hesitate to contact us.

It includes corrections for more than 30 issues, but also brings improvements to different modules, such as the possibility to read *.nde acquisition files up to version 5.17 from Evident Industrial in UT Analysis, the possibility to read *.capture acquisition files up to 4.1.2 from EddyFi, a new plug-in allowing to add a synthetic gaussian noise as a post processing in UT simulation, and a new "TFM Stacking" feature.

You can check out our blog article for more information.

T-Welds inspection with TraiNDE UT

T-Welds inspection with TraiNDE UT

TraiNDE UT v1.4 has been released in March!

It includes a large variety of exercises including a T-Weld block. The inspection of T-Welds is quite complex with conventional UT, as it requires to manipulate the different probes and to scan the different component's faces, to detect and confirm indications. TraiNDE UT allows you to perform the different stages one after the other to focus on understanding.

In this video, we illustrate the practice of T-Welds inspection with TraiNDE UT.

We value your feedback!

CIVA Survey

The quality of the products and services we provide you is our major priority and commitment.

As we regularly do, we've recently initiated a survey to request your feedback on CIVA and our services around this software.

We would be really happy if you could take a few minutes of your time to help us better understand and satisfy your expectations.

You can access the survey here.

R&D projects with NASA

Design for Inspection

NASA (Langley Research Center) recently participated in the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Research Symposium and Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE) conference and presented some ongoing collaborative work with EXTENDE using CIVA software about Design for Inspection (DFI) and inspectability metric in aerospace applications.

NDE engineers are indeed often confronted with structural design choices that present challenges to meeting inspection requirements. In this context, Design for Inspection (DFI) offers a framework to integrate nondestructive evaluation into the design process to alleviate the mechanisms that produce uninspectable designs. To enable DFI, a novel inspectability tool and metric are proposed which correspond to a standardized and automated procedure that uses CIVA simulations to interrogate the ability to find defects and the variability sensitivity in order to evaluate the inspectability of a structure.

These presentations are available from NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS):

New papers from EXTENDE and its partners

20th WCNDT

NDT Norway

AEND 2024

EXTENDE recently participated in the World Conference on NDT (WCNDT 2024, in Incheon, Korea), as well as the NDT Norwegian Conference (in Bodo, Norway), and the 2nd Iberico Conference (in Valladolid, Spain).

We were very happy to share with you our latest news and products. These conferences were also an opportunity for EXTENDE and its partners to issue some technical papers and presentations dealing with NDE applications involving simulation with CIVA software and TraiNDE!

We can highlight the following ones:
  • New trends in modelling features available in CIVA: Metamodels, Hybrid models, FEM models
  • Hybridize experimental and simulated signals to accelerate the creation of database for virtual training tools of UT operators
  • Simulating for Innovation: Exploiting the Capabilities of Simulation in Non-Destructive Testing
  • CIVA: Benefits of Modelling for NDT
  • TraiNDE: Benefits of Simulators for NDT

These presentations are available online on our dedicated webpage.

The CEA and EXTENDE thank their industry partners for the collaboration around these publications.

CIVA Tip: Link parameters during parametric studies

CIVA Tip

In the frame of development, expertise or qualification processes in NDT, parametric studies will be necessary to study the impact of influential parameters on your inspection's outcome. A simulation software such as CIVA is particularly well suited to run parametric studies in NDT, as it provides the ability to precisely monitor input parameters and then explore a wide range of situations in a limited time..
